Personal: Work History
| Paperboy |
starting in 2nd grade... |
| Lawn boy |
obnoxious outdoor work. Did this from the dawn of time...
now I won't touch a yard tool. I make enough money to hire my
own yard lackeys. |
| Babysitter |
started doing this kinda young, too... like 10 years old. |
| Clerk |
Clerk at a Tanning Salon, "The Finnish Touch".
Met lots of interestig people there... not interesting
enough, I guess, to remember their names, but fun to chat
with. Weird that I worked here, since I have a total phobia
over sunlight (and related skin damage). I also have a
primitive admiration for creamy-white skin. |
| Actor |
in a low budget community-college math show. It was
kinda fun. |

Sandy Starship Theatre
Sandy, Utah
Probably the best (funnest) job of my entire life.
Greets to Scott Harding, Dixie Vandenberg, Julie Esplin,
Hayley Manning, Carolee, and all the other people I
loved there. Super-mega-greets to my x-manager Mel!
Always the coolest of guys!
Addendum: What a heart breaker... I went back in September,
2002 and discovered that it had been closed for a long
while. The "big budget" theatre next door
was now a dollar theater. |

Another theatre... can't remember the name, exactly.
I only worked there for a month or two. It was related
to the Sandy Starship. It was also a cool job, but it
never did any real business. Checked again, a few years
ago... the theatre is gone, and it's replaced by a video
rental store |

Consolidated Theatres, Inc.
Salt Lake Metroplex, Utah
Corporate office for Sandy Starship Theatre, and the
<something> Twin Theatre. I got in good with the
big boys. I don't remember actually doing any work here
(or getting paid), but I supposedly programmed laser
light shows. This was just before I left for college. |
| Satellite Communications |
Lyman Brothers, Inc.
South Jordan, Utah
Bounced telephone calls off of satellites, during forest
fires in Idaho. I wrecked the company Ford Bronco on
a blazing mountain. I had driven all night, and then
passed out, while driving. Could have been the smoke,
could have been exhaustion... probably both. Boss wasn't
happy. He was a decent guy, though! |
| Videographer |
Comcon, Inc.
South Jordan, Utah
And I sucked. Kinda. Well... I think I was good, but
I didn't make any money out of it. It's nice to have
guaranteed paychecks. |
| Video Tape Duplicator |
CDI (Cassette Duplicators, Inc)
Salt Lake City, Utah
midnight to 8:00am shift, load videotapes into VCRs, push
record. Play master tape. Take videotapes out... repeat. Worked
with some great guys... Ilia Iliev, Mark Copeland, a dude
that really loved "Home Improvement". There was
also my boss... some guy named Orlando Muniz... He was a dick.
This job was really boring, because we mostly copied
"Living Scripture" video tapes, golf videos,
some of those video tapes that you get with "as
seen on TV" products... and we did a pretty exhaustive
"Quality Check" which meant watching these
damn things over and over again. *agh* The golf videos
were true suffering. We also copied "Willy the
sparrow" for ages, it seems. |
| Teacher |
Kid Power (I think)
Somewhere in the Salt Lake Metroplex, Utah
This was a fun job. Lots of cute kids, starving for
attention. Some of them were mean little buggers, but
most of them were great. That was a pretty fun job.
I had a giant latex dragon mask, which I liked to put
on. The kids would kick me and yell at me while I growled.
These are probably the same kids that are shooting each
other in schools, today. |

Cinemark Movies 8

Well... wanted to relive my wonderful glory days in
previous theatres. I went to the wrong place. This theatre
was one horrible place to work. Almost intolerable.
The manager was an annoying jerk, and it was compounded
by the fact that several employees were stealing from
the theatre... which turned Mr. Jerk into Admiral Asshole.
I've never been this happy to quit a job. In fact, I've
never been happy to quit a job, except this once.
I just went back in September 2002. It's a dollar theater
now. This was once the "big budget" first
run theatre that was literally next door to the Sandy
Starship. |

whatever...
Tulsa, Oklahoma
My first real job! I worked with a lot of great people.
This was my first exposure to corporate culture. Wow...
a company will really try (and succeed) to screw you.
Nonetheless, I had one truly super supervisor. Hails
out to Scott Schad! Lots of great co-workers, too: Mike
Kelly, Linda Carberry, Chris Villarma, Dave Keating,
Marvin Tom, and... there are so many of you, I'd have
to sit down and make a real list. |

Snelling Personnel
Carrollton, TX
Well, I hated Tulsa, and I wasn't getting anywhere
working for Worldscum, so I moved to Dallas in fall,
1996. Among the places I worked with this temp agency
were: Bimar Foods, A Jewelry store (forget), A video
camera manufacturer, NEC (warrantee service receiving
/ data entry)... none of them were great jobs, but none
of them were bad, either. I really liked a lot of people
at NEC, although I forget names. |

Well, here is where my life really took a turn for
the better. Had a great boss named Ammad
Jilani. Met my closest friend, Mike Tate, here.
Bought my house from Jake Howton -- another great guy.
Greetings out to Riccardo Flores, Daryl Pollack... Well
there were a lot of you, but names escape me, right
now. |

(StoneBridge Technologies, Consultancy)
Occidental Chemical Corporation
Dallas, TX
Got this job thanks again to my buddy Ammad
Jilani!
I still work here, so... uh... I love this job. I love
my management. My coworkers are all talented, fun, and
generally groovy people. This job kicks ass |

Occidental Chemical Corporation
Oxy Services, Inc.
Dallas, TX
Well... I got to be a real employee when I became webmaster.
It's probably all the same to you, but it's a big difference
to me. My first employee-with-benefits job. Greets out
to my boss, Jeff Brewer, my coworker (and roommate)
Chris Padgett, Rana, Rick, Ray Garrison, Terry, Tammy
McDonald, and lots of others. You guys are great! |
| eServices Developer |
Oxy Inc.
Dallas, TX
This is the same job, really... just a different title
and a different name (my group was shuffled from the
Chemicals division to the "corporate services"
division) |
