I have committed a few sections of my website to honor artists
that I have a particular affinity for.
| Artist |
Summary of work |
| Ansel
Adams |
Ansel Adams was a well respected photographer in the early
part of the 20th century. His artwork paid homage to nature,
and was used by the Audobon Society. |
| Frank
Lloyd Wright |
Wright was an American architect in the early 20th century.
He is widely regarded as the father of modern architecture.
Before Wright, architecture followed rigid rules of design.
Wright advocated a style of architecture where the environment
and function of a structure dictates its design. |
| Georgia O'Keefe |
Georgia O'Keefe was a famous American painter in the early
20th century. She was famous for large paintings of orchids,
lillies, and other flowers. She was sponsored by cosmetic companies.
While her artwork is beautiful, I believe that she is primarily
recognized for being a prolific female artist.
I find her art to be extremely erotic. |
| M.C.
Escher |
Escher is undoubtedly the first great master of modern illustration.
In some ways, I feel bad that his method -- highly mathematical,
and precise illustration -- has been simplified by modern
technology. Wood cuts and lithograph are difficult media to
work with, too. |
| Rowena Morrill |
Rowena is a fantasy artist from the later 20th century. She
specialized in fantasy, but especially in fantasy heroes and
human-like creatures. Her work is exceptional, and her artwork
has graced many books. I have a strong affinity for any fantasy
artists, and the more fantastic, colorful, and realistic the
better. She also paints a lot of naked women, which is a big
plus for me! |
| Tim White |
Tim is a fantasy artist from the later 20th century. He specializes
in science fiction, and has many alien landscapes, city-scapes,
spaceships, and fantastic robots. |
| Jim Burns |
Jim Burns is a fantasy artist from the later 20th century.
He specializes in science fiction, and while his work is varied,
he seems to be particularly interested and talented with alien
lifeforms. |
| Luis Royo |
Luis Royo is a fantasy artist from the later 20th century,
predominantly the 1990's. His has been prolific with both fantasy
and science fiction. He seems to specialize in human figures,
especially scantily clad females. |
| Chris Moore |
Chris Moore is a fantasy author from the later 20th century.
He specializes in science fiction, and contemporary themes.
I am not personally interested in pictures of 1950's cars, 1980's
fighters, and other contemporary subjects. That's mostly a nit,
as he has produced quite a bit of excellent science fiction
art. |
