Next, I took all of the selected circles, and grouped them (Ctrl-G). I copied this group, and pasted a copy. I moved this copy a discrete distance below the top ones, and then aligned the objects with the align vertical button (circled in red). After this, I select both sets of objects and ungroup them. (Ctrl-Shift-G).

Next, switch to the white arrow pointer, and select the points in the middle. Just drag a selection box that bisects both rows, as shown above.

You should see something that resembles the image above. Dark blue points are selected, hollow points are not selected. Delete the dark points (hit the Delete key).

What you are left with should look like the screen above.
